Greece is one of the first E.U. member states and as such, implements the European medical legislation that ensures the safety of the patients. This makes some procedures concerning international patients much easier, while being indicative of the country’s high medical standards.
Additionally, it will soon provide an extra benefit of great economic importance for patients from other E.U. countries, since their home state’s National Healthcare System will cover (through the E.U. Directive 24/2011 to be effective as of 2013) the largest part of their cost of treatment and, in some cases, even the whole cost!
